Planning
In the planning stage, we will get to meet and discuss your idea in full detail. Depending on the complexity of your idea, it may take us anywhere from 1 to 3 meetings to understand what you are trying to achieve and exactly what it takes to build it. We will also teach you about Canva-specific constraints that may require us to rethink how your app works. The goal of this stage is to capture your vision with fidelity and create a plan that serves as the blueprint. You will review this plan with us until you feel confident that we understand your product.

Production
We’ll start building your app as described in the plan. Depending on the complexity of your project this can take weeks or months. We will stay in contact with you regularly to discuss progress and consult decisions where they arise.

Review
We will present the finished product and review it together. Any final adjustments or fixes you may request take place here. We will then submit your app for review and handle any review rounds that happen.

Launch
Your app has successfully passed the review stage and it’s live in the marketplace.

How does pricing work?
The first stage of our process is a series of discovery sessions where we work with you to create a scope document, based on your direction and our experience. The scope comes with a quote for the entire project, paid at project start. That price covers fulfilling the scope as described and delivering an application that's ready to pass Canva's review process.
Can I provide my own user interface?
You're welcome to guide us on how you'd like the interface to look like, but Canva has specific criteria for how marketplace apps must be built. To avoid unnecessary review rounds, we design the final interface using the components Canva provides and requires.
What kinds of Canva apps do you build?
Our basic tier is a Canva app that interacts directly with the user's design — no backend, no external systems. From there, a range of add-ons covers the most common needs: databases and authentication for user accounts, servers for custom logic, admin dashboards, user metrics, third-party API integrations, and payment workflows. We can also take an existing product or service of yours and turn it into a Canva app, so you can reach your customers directly inside the platform.
How long will it take to build my project?
It depends on what the app does and how many external systems it interacts with. For the basic tier — a Canva app that displays a UI and lets users interact with their design — we aim for a six-week deadline.
